| I guess I'll start this off. I hollowed out a mountain yesterday... I think I have too much free time on my hands. https://imgur.com/ZPWqs,Mbhi8,EpxvM,DrUWa,aQcdr,wGEuw,Fzk68,8rElt,Bkn4G,iOTvj,F1zyo,1QYTILink to gallery. First couple pics are from shortly after beginning the project, the rest are after I finished. I have two gates leading into it. Last picture is a top down view of the hill which I have conveniently turned into a castle. Edit: Here's one I just took because I'm artistic like that. https://i.imgur.com/chMJf.jpg | |

| I find this very impressive.
The idea of a mountain being sculpted into a different form with the same materials (the stone and ores) by human hands is a beautiful thought. Just kinda turned that mountain into a castle.
Is this how you build most of your castles? c: | |

| More or less, I don't usually leave the trees in the middle, but I figured that since I'm putting the majority of the structure below ground I'd leave the above ground area relatively untouched. All I really have on top of the hill is the wall going around it and those three towers. I'm currently continuing to develop the underground portion by putting walls and rooms and whatnot to make it look habitable. I have a number of other projects in this world that vary from this. So I just went through all three of my worlds and took pictures of everything. Browse at your own risk. There were many more pictures than I intended. I even skipped over a few important sections of my first world (which happens to be the last set of pictures in the gallery). You can definitely see my progression in building moving backwards through the bunch. My first world is all cobblestone and the walls even are made from sand and dirt in some places. Then there's the middle world which contains the hill fortress and one of my first attempts at redstone technology what with the drawbridges connecting the towers. And then there's my current world which includes my jungle treetop city (each tower and major tree is also connected underground via a tunnel network), my floating ocean fortress with expansive underwater development, my desert sculpture and castles, and my recent hill fortress in the snowy section. I also made the river that flows through the snow area from the desert to the jungle. | So, do you plan these structures out beforehand? | |

| No, not really. I find a spot and I think "I should build something there." So I just start building. As I build I'll think ahead and begin forming a plan about where I want the project to end up but I don't actually come up with it beforehand. | |
